Morning All
Fairly bright this morning, the bedding is out on the line along with a couple of throws from my chair at work, will put on a white wash when I've had a shower.
Well, that's work finished for 6 weeks, it was fairly calm yesterday, no big dramas and no children left at 1pm. Took DD shopping then joined everyone at the pub for an hour, I just had a soda and lime, the place they go to is a nightmare for me to get home from (plus they were still going strong at 10pm).
I'm going to see if I can book a christmas holiday today, Malaysia looks quite good so I'll see what there is on offer.
I've just emptied my change tin and have £89 to pay into the bank, I'm sure I will be popular when I turn up with that lot!
Hope your DD recovers soon HH.
Sometimes doing nothing is good for us Gers!
Have a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -

Thank you for starting us off JackieO
I managed to get some paint for my outhouse door, and despite it being a bit drab and overcast it was warm and fairly still so I managed to get one coat on. There are quite a few runs at the top though, so I will have to rub them down before I get the second coat on. I think age must be catching up with me a bit, last time I did this about 6 years ago, I managed to get it to a much higher standard. Unfortunately, I’m a bit of a perfectionist so was a little cross with myself. Never mind, at least I can still do these sort of things for myself.

Have you tried using a high density gloss mini roller ?
I get mine from Toolstation just over £4 for 10 and the frame.
If there are panels I use a brush for any hard to get into bits
I find them so much easier, if you are going to do another coat wrap the roller in cling film or seal in a plastic bag so it doesn't dry out.If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning everyone,
Bit dull and overcast here at the moment but it's meant to get brighter later.
We also had a leak yesterday, woke up to a large damp patch on the ceiling above the back door, turns out the shower pump was leaking in the airing cupboard so had to call the plumber back out. We needed a new one so more expense plus need to redecorate now, ho hum
Have a lot of washing to catch up on what with all the rain and the water being on and off the last few days, will strip the bed and do the towels as well.
Things have all got on top of me a bit lately so, after nagging from DOH, have made a docs appointment for next week. The promised counselling from the hospice has never materialised so I am hoping that can get a referral, fingers crossed.
Have a good day folks x0 -
Morning all
Damp and overcast here but not raining atm, we are off to collect dd's new car and she is very excited :j she has not sold the old one yet so it will have to go on the drive as its not insured after this morning.
Need to go and do a shop today too, and when we get back we need to have a good tidy through, I need to put a wash on the go as well.
Specky the weather for my 'lap' was overcast and drizzly, a bit like today really, but we had no heave rain so we were luky really, the festival is on all weekend so we get to see really fancy cars in the local area and I am looking out for Keanu Reeves and Johnny Depp who go most years
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
I slept like a log last night which was very welcome indeed. I am currently being tortured with the sound of people munching bacon sandwiches around me. Unfortunately my teeth are so sore if I eat anything I am on a soft diet again today. Roll on the 28th when I next go to see the dentist....and I never thought I would be saying that.
I am taking DD17 and DD14 out shopping today. They are both desperate for shoes and some summer clothes. We are going to catch the bus into Barnstaple and potter around. I am very mindful that both of my daughters find it very stressful to be in crowds so we will do as much or little that they can cope with and then we will visit the sweet shop before catching the bus back home again.
Hubby is in charge of cooking this weekend so we are having fish and chips with mushy peas. I will probably just have a piece of fish and some peas. I don't mind, I am so happy not to be cooking.
Lainey, I hope you can get some help from your doctor x
camelot, Malaysia sounds like it would be amazing to visit. Hope you can enjoy your summer holidays x
Hope you all have a fab day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Feel a lot brighter, and that early morning walk did me the world of good. Only about 20 minutes, but as it was a slight drizzle as well its freshened up the roads and my head
:):), all hoovered and tidy and just awaiting the arrival of eldest DD and the coffee is perking nicely.
Weather is set to improve later as well, so I shall be toddling off to see DGS Ben this afternoon.
Hope you all have a great day, Hollyharvey I sometimes have used a radiator roller on doors, they are reasonably small with replacement rollers, and not too expensive.
I know what you mean by perfectionist I take great pride in my upcycling of old junk furniture and will spend hours sanding and undercoating to get the right finish:):)
Cheers chums JackieO xx0 -
Morning
No sun yet here today but there is some promised for later.
Need to have a mini clean this morning then nip to M+S to get a squidgy lovely dessert. Off to spend the evening with a friend for a very indulgent meal and lots of vino no doubt. Always enjoy our catch ups so will be fun night
When I get back tomorrow I have to sort some of the bags to leave out for the charity collectors ..nearly clear at mums now but of course have it all here instead. Sad when your life comes down to 9 bin bags for the charity
Right on with the clean then
Have a lovely day everyone0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
I do not know what happened to the bedroom clock, it was 2 hours fast. OH got up and had a shower, then realised it was only 6 55am, went back to bed until I woke just after 8. I have reset the clock, will see how it goes.
Yesterday I discovered where our friend from the chapel coffee mornings is now living, so after OH had his siesta we went over, just 8 miles from us, she has a nice little flat in a sheltered complex of 22 units. She was delighted to see us. We caught up on her happenings, she had been discharged from hospital to a nursing home for recuperation, it was costing her over £1000 a week!!! Fortunately they found the flat for her. She said she enjoyed being in the home, but just could not afford to stay. She had only moved into the flat last Monday and has very little in the way of groceries etc, there is a co op local to her but they are expensive, so we offered to collect her and take her to Aldi when we go next week. We also brought her books from the mobile library away with us, we can return them on Monday when the van comes.
Our neighbour who is in the hospice had a fall, they do not think he has broken his leg, but may have split the bone, he is far too weak to have anything done about it. A is coming today to take his mother in to see his father.
Its fine this morning, but the ground is quite wet. OH will footle around in the garden for an hour or so this morning.
I did not get any sewing done yesterday so will attempt to quilt the last mat this afternoon and cut the binding for the mats.
Tomorrow's supper tonight, OH is bowling tomorrow afternoon and will get a tea so I am cooking the chicken tonight. OH will see if there are rapsberries to have for dessert.0 -

No I haven't tried one of these, I didn't even know that you could get them. I'm going out shortly and will call into a couple of DIY sort of places and see if I can get one. Thanks for this. x0 -
What a cold, wet and nasty day it has turned out to be. Can't see the sea and Jura has gone too. Another 'Brigadoon' day.
I started to make a cake, didn't have one ingredient so went out for it. Made the cake. Baked the cake. Cake dense. Realised I'd forgotten to put in bicarbonate of soda. No wonder cake is dense! I'll try again tomorrow. Maybe!
On the upside my Heath Robinson type contraption to dissuade jackdaws and starlings from guzzling all the bird feed has been successful. It'll help keep my garden a lot less noisy
On the downside - still no post from colleague with work to second mark. I can feel a complaint bubbling up in my mouth for Monday.
Again, on the upside a CD I ordered after hearing Alice Cooper on the Chris Evans show yesterday has arrived - Hollywood Vampires. He formed a sort of super group which then recorded cover versions of singers who have died from alcohol or drug abuse. I could stream it with my Amaz*on subscription but want to listen to it in my car via the usb stick, and it was cheap enough.
More upside, my electricity bill is almost half of what it was this time last year. :j Now that's most definitely money-saving.
There's more of my book to read so I think I'll go onto the sofa and pull a throw over me.0
