This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
wide awake at silly o'clock this morning .I thought I would have an early night which meant I was in bed by 10 and asleep by 10.30 ,not the best idea as I then woke several times during the night and by 4.45 was wide awake
I am better going to bed later I think, as I have a stonking headache now ,so I may have a quick walk around the block after a coffee and shower to freshen my noggin a bit.
Later this morning eldest DD is coming for coffee and brunch as her OH has had to go to a meeting, and they can't get to go to the caravan this weekend till late afternoon .It will be nice to see her.
DGS Ben got home last night from Uni and I shall pop in and see him later on today.
Managed to get all the ironing done and put away last night and all I have to do this morning is give the bathroom a quick swish through and hoover the sitting room and thats all the housework done for this week:)
Ist of July and its nice to think next month we will be off on our holidays to our beloved IoW, can't wait to go as we are going to a new holiday house which we haven't used before and it looks very nice with a large garden for the boys and the two dogs.
No shopping to get at all this weekend which is nice as I can carry on using up what I have in stock. Just starting to get a little space in the freezer at last .
I have been doing a paper declutter this week and got rid of quite a bit of unnecessary paperwork from my desk.It seems to accumulate almost overnight.tomorrow I may have a go at my walk-in wardrobe as I am sure half the stuff in there is barely worn so the CS may be in for a few bags on Monday
Happy birthday to those who are celebrating and <<hugs >> for those in need of one
Have a good weekend chums and take care
Cheers JackieO xxx

Morning everyone.
Thanks for the thread JackieO, another wide awake person here. A jackdaw pecking at my upstairs hall window woke me, its an odd thing to do and I hope it doesn't do it again!
The day is bright so far though the forecast is bad for 10am onward. My plan for today is to be more productive than I was yesterday, which won't be too difficult. Mind you, I may just get in the car and 'visit places'. I've got a wee touch of inertia which is always hard to get over, watching the sea and the sheep is fascinating.
For now, happy Saturday to all.0 -
Morning
Thanks Jackie.....another restless sleeper here too although right now I could go back to sleep!
I say could, but I can't as I have flipping work this morning
Fed up of being exhausted.
Have a good day all x'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

Morning everyone
JackieO - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Very dull, dreich and murky here this morning, looks like it could rain.
DH and I, up and enjoying first cuppas of the day and he is going into work for the morning. I normally go to town to visit the building society but it's the local festival and it's always a nightmare as they shut loads of streets and car parks, so I'll be avoiding that. I'll use my lunchtime Monday to do that job.
Yesterday I got the ironing done, after the shopping, still spending more that I want to, but food seems to be going up on a weekly basis. I will change our bed this morning.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all and thank you for the thread JackieO.
I got up at 5, not a bad sleep for me. It is sunny so far, have not looked at the forecast as it has been wrong all week. Am hoping that it stays dry as I have washing to go out.
I need to change our bedlinen, bit more tidying and later a friend is calling in. That is my entire plan for the day, not exactly fascinating but the friend part will be good.
There is a leak in the bathroom, I've tightened tge collar thing connecting the pipes and that has reduced but not cured it.
Hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning folks and thanks JACKIE for the start. Another restless nighter for the group here too. My sleep pattern is so hit and miss these days. No DGDs to get up for this morning so could have stayed in bed but was wide awake by 5.30. Bah!
After almost a week of drab and wet weather there is a bit of sunshine this morning! And no rain is promised either so, as soon as Mr TA vacates the bed, I shall strip it and get all the bedding washed and pegged outside. SK size is a devil to dry indoors so I hope the day lives up to forecast!
DD took the girls to the caravan after school yesterday for the weekend so hope it stays fine for them to be outside playing. She has to pop back over this morning to take our ballet star to her Sat morning class and also take eldest to school to await the coach pick up for her week in Spain, but she's going back over to the 'van this afternoon and might finally relax a bit. She never stops dashing here, there and everywhere.
I might pop in town once the washing is out as we need some peanuts for the birdies and I want to nip in M & S as I have some Sparks' food vouchers I want to use. Including a £2.50 Spirit of Summer one. I can't thoil their food prices usually but when I have some good money-offs it's a different story!
Have a good day all and (HUGS) for the poorlies, sad or worried who want them. Take care folks xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning
Thank you Jackie for the thread.
Very quiet here, I don't seem to have the energy to do much.
Got a free bottle of cider yesterday, thanks to checkoutsmart
It seems cooler so will have to get some jobs done around the house, can't use it's too hot as an excuse.
Cooked a chicken in SC yesterday so will have some cold with salad for lunch.
Hope you all have a good day.If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning everyone,
Thank you for starting us off JackieO
I managed to get some paint for my outhouse door, and despite it being a bit drab and overcast it was warm and fairly still so I managed to get one coat on. There are quite a few runs at the top though, so I will have to rub them down before I get the second coat on. I think age must be catching up with me a bit, last time I did this about 6 years ago, I managed to get it to a much higher standard. Unfortunately, I’m a bit of a perfectionist so was a little cross with myself. Never mind, at least I can still do these sort of things for myself.
I started to go over the June accounts yesterday evening and discovered that my spending is staying static, which is a bit annoying because I need to cut down my outgoings, so I’m going to spend some time this weekend looking for areas that I can cut costs. The obvious is food.
Dinner yesterday was as planned, the dusted haddock fillet with new potatoes and veg, and I got a crumble out of the freezer for pudding which was nice.
I’m going to meet a friend for coffee in town this morning and then hope to get the second coat of paint on the outhouse door if the weather is suitable. So nothing exciting today.
Time for another cup of tea and some breakfast before I get on with the day.
I hope that you all have a good day whatever you are doing.0 -
Thanks Jackie for starting us off, I hope that you all have a good day in store, Karcher - not so good feeling tired and still needing to go to work, hope it is not too challenging a day,
Dull, rather dark and chilly here this morning, but forecast to be brighter and quite warm later. Slept a little better and longer, so no excuse for not getting on with things today.
Monthly meet up with some chums at a coffee morning this morning, then off to see Mum, need to organise some lunch to take, she feeds herself well, but I am GF so need to sort out my own stuff.
I need another cup of tea and then must vac up the dog hair whilst OH and the hairy one are out, she gets a bit excited when the vac is on, so I try and do it every morning while they are walking. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Jackie O.
I'm at DD's and have been since 6 so SIL could go to work.
DD will be back some time this afternoon but can't lift of drive for a week.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Good morning everyone
looks like the weather has improved a bit - well it's not raining anyway, for a change.
I've had a disturbed night, and been awake since 4am, not unusual for me. DH puts his head on his pillow, and sleeps all night, wish I could do that. I've been a poor sleeper for most of my life I think.
Not much on today, just as well. Mind, I'll brisk up a bit with the help of strong coffee!!
Cooked a chicken for last night's meal, so we'll eat that again tonight. There's a bit of shopping to do, and some washing.
Hope everyone has a good Saturday.0
