Halifax - bouncing money around

Hi all
I've had a Halifax current account for the past 18 years and am now looking to move, but want to make sure it still pays 6.17% if and when I decide to use it again.
Can I achieve this by bouncing the same £1k between it and my Halifax web saver on a monthly basis so as to fulfil the funding requirement?
I'm sure this has been discussed before but can't find the thread.
TIA
Suze

I'm no expert on Halifax but banks in general offer the best terms to new customers.
If you have had an account for 18 years you may not qualify for this account and that rate.
Best thing I can suggest is that you ask them.0 -
As above, plus I'm sure that it will not be allowed to fund like that?
The funding will probably have to credit from outwith HBOS group. eg. salaries etc.0 -
Whilst I haven't tried it myself, I was assured earlier this year by an MSE regular (who had both Halifax & BOS high interest current accounts) that it was indeed possible to bounce money around via WebSavers and the BOS IASA to fulfill the monthly credit criteria for 6.17% AER rate.0

I bounce money between 3 Halifax accounts to ensure they all have £1000 paid into them in each month and get 6.17% interest on each of the accounts
So in answer to your question YES you can move the same £1000 around to cover the requirements you need to get the best rate !!0 -
Another option is to Xfer from Sainsbury's online saver and back once a month if you have one.0

Yes u can do that between Halifax accounts
My hubby does it all the time
Plus if u want any new rates then u always have to ask them to apply it to ur account...cos basically if u do not ask then u do not get!!0 -
Yes you can, - cash and cheques count too
just make sure you have signed to redesignate to a high interest account - you have to sign to agree as the 6% is up to £25000 -
Thanks to all those who have confirmed what I thought
