EDF - Switching nightmare

On April 1st prompted by TV appearance of Martin Lewis, I used a switching service and got a quote from EDF with a substantial saving on my supply ier British Gas who could not improve on their standard tariff rate even after a phone call.
Consequently I switched online to EDF dual full direct debit expecting it to be easy !
All seemed to go well with lots of welcoming emails from EDF. Then after a few weeks an email arrived saying "sorry I was leaving" (strange when I had just joined)
This prompted a call by me to customer services who eventually in,formed me my electricity was set up but not Gas. Eventually I was told that they had used the wrong gas meter details from a similar address of the same post code. After their apology I gave EDF the meter number and left EDF to sort out their mess
I estimate at least 20 automated EDF emails, all of which continue to wind me up and their advice "ignore the emails until they sort out my switch" (I would rather not receive them).
Consequently I am paying a direct debit to My original supplier British Gas as well as a new direct debit to EDF for my Gas and continue to do so
I was promised one account Gas and Electric and this has still not been resolved today 30th June) after making a formal complaint.
I am sure eventually things will be resolved but I am dissapointed with EDF from day 1
Your TV appearance really makes the point of how easy it is to switch and almost shames people into doing so. In my case this has not been and continues to be a bad experience,

Hi - welcome to the forum, Yes things do occasionally go wrong and it is a Licence Condition that the gaining supplier resolves the issue. That said, in the latter part of May/early June gas transfers were delayed whilst a new IT system was rolled out (Project NEXUS). The 'good news' is that you will not pay for the same gas twice. Any credit on your old account will be re-paid once a Final Bill is raised. If there is credit on your BG account, then give them a call and ask them to stop claiming DD payments. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. OP, if it's any consolation, I switched to EDF from BG about 3 years ago and it was a smooth process. Having been with EDF for 3 years, when I've needed to contact them, they've been helpful, their website is easy to use, and they have an Android app which allows you to input meter readings on the spot, as well as check your bills. Unfortunately, I'm leaving them soon as their prices have rocketed, but I'm not leaving due to any problems with the company. Hope it sorts itself soon. (A fellow Yorkie)0
