Sorry if this is in the wrong place, how do I insert a half symbol into text? I was tapping away at work when the half came up, normally I do 11/2 or somethingwhich does not look right, how can I do a proper half!!!!!!!!! Yes I know I shouldn't be let loose with a computer!

If you are using MS Word, select 'Tools' menu and then 'autocorrect' from drop-down options. From the available tabs, select 'Autoformat as you type'. You can tick options, including replacing fractions. Then your 1/2 will display correctly.

For anyone using MS Word 2007 - click Insert tab - click on symbols menu (found in far top hand right corner of tool bar) choose symbol required from symbols dialogue box

If on XP:

Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map

for all the symbols, change the font for more
