IHT amount 11th hour from solicitor

just wanted advice as to what is reasonable here- I have been repeatedly asking the solicitor dealing with my late brother's estate for the final IHT due for at least a month and sent several emails this week as it is due today(he died in December)
he sent me an email last night and it is £10,000 more than the original estimate-should he have not given me a lot more warning?
I am hopefully getting an urgent loan from a relative to cover but the stress it has caused trying to get figures is horrendous and I don't see why we should be paying interest if its paid late
otherwise he has been ok but consistently tardy in replies. I've never dealt with this kind of thing before so don't know what is reasonable?

Why do you need to get a loan? This should be paid from your late brother's estate.
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

we have already used an account to pay some of the tax via the IHT 423 form and the rest of the estate is property
