split from other half - house question

I was with my partner for 28 years, we had a child together. we bought a council house in 2003, it was valued at 70k, but we got a discount with council and had a 20k mortgage. He lost his parents in 2007 and went onto a alcoholic streak, so left me to pay all the bills and mortgage, I was doing this for 10 years until I left last year. I have probably paid 75+ percent of the mortgage. However, I do not have any proof of this as I paid it in with cash with his paying in slip ( silly I know )
My question is, do I have any options to claim any share of that house? He won't willingly give me anything even though his mortgage payments have all been paid off by me!

I take it you weren't married? I think you need to see a solictor, but I'd say you're entitled to half of it.0

Not married though, lived in house since 1993 when he first got it, I saw a solicitor and he said its do-able but will cost a bit, I'm just weary as I have no proof I have paid for it, but then again, he was out of work for 3 years and it was being paid, it sounds very messy0 -
So, just to be clear, the house is in his name only, you have left it, along with your child?0

You have what is known as a beneficial interest in the property. It's not straight forward, but you are entitled to a share of it.
However when you say you paid it for 10 years, where did the money actually come from?0 -

It was his mum and dads at the time, we moved in and when we got the mortgage in 2004, I'm guessing he wanted it to be his, yes selfish but hindsight is great
It wasn't until 2007 when he was out of work and had issues that I started paying, and then it snowballed really until I left in 20150 -

So who was the tenant? Who got the right to buy discount?
Did you somehow 'fiddle' the right to buy in order to get the discount? You wouldn't have qualified for much if you only moved in 2003?0
