Business rates help please

Could anybody please tell me about business rates for a new startup ie when they kick in . Is there an initial time before you pay and what they are based on ie how much do you pay.

Thankyou for the link. The property doesn't come up under a postcode search so I'm not sure how we work out the rateable value .

Contact Royal Mail for the property's post code.

The property should have a postcode. I'm surprised it is not on your lease/purchase agreement.

The property does have a postcode but doesnt come up under the search function on that link, in fact only 2 premises are mentioned on the link. Could this be that its because the properties are not used as busineses already.

obviously.....

therefore you will need to get the VOA to do a valuation

then you will need to see if that is less than the business rates relief also explained in the link I gave you to establish if there is actually anything to pay

seems like you don't really know how to get started in business? Is there a chamber of commerce in your area that you could join and get their help/advice?
