You can go to Kaunus (Lithuania) from Prestwick for 2p rtn. Thats where Heart of Midlothian get most of their first team players from:rotfl:

Has Vladmir Romanov struck a deal with Ryanair for the mass transportation of mediocre East European footballers ?

This could be worthy of another "Peter Baker investigates" special report

The headline on their site says Free, ie inclusive of taxes and charges. I selected a couple of flights to Valencia, next February, at 1p each. The charges for taxes etc ratcheted it upto £22+, then luggage @ £7 each bag each way. Then there'll be a credit/debit card charge on top of that.

It's still cheap, but it isn't inclusive of taxes and charges, as advertised. Or am I missing something?

    same thing happening to me!!
  • You can get flights for a penny all in, but you need to look for them. It can be a bit tricky, because some flights show up on the price screen as a penny, but then have charges added.

To get the penny ones, make sure the flights are inside the times and dates allowed (you can find these out by picking your outbound airport on the home page to see the list of prices) and then clicking the airport you're interested in flying to. Most of them are available Monday after 12, all day Tues & Wed, Thurs before 12, after 12 Saturday - excepting holidays and other bits and pieces.

On the price screen, make sure you pick flights that say "Reg Fare" next to them, rather than "Web Fare" (even if they are a penny) - these are usually the actual penny flights though in this promotion I have noticed that even some that say "Reg" add fees.

After this, you have to be willing to not have any check-in luggage (a week's worth of stuff isn't impossible in hand luggage!), check-in online, and not take their insurance. Then you should come out with a final price of a penny per flight.

The last time this promotion came up I got a decent number of flights booked for a penny. Oh, and there was no card charge either (not to say there won't be this time - I've not booked any yet!).

And don't be surprised when the penny actually turns up debited from your account ...

Yes they need sorting by the Advertising Standards Authority.

I dislike these headline adverts that state one thing, then when you come to buy, the charges are quite different due to things that you cannot avoid having, like suitcases.

I especially dislike this trend of charging for credit/debit card use. Effectively it is an additional tax. Also, I note that Ryanair, like others, add their travel insurance and you have to remember to delete it. Ryanair have also started the automatic addition of priority boarding - very creative.

All clever marketing tricks, I know. Or, are they really seeking to deceive?
