Garage Electrics - Socket tripping but not lights

Hi,
I have a problem with the electrics in our separate garage. The sockets seem to trip constantly but not immediately, basically when I flip the switch back it all works fine and then about an hour later it trips. The funny thing is the lights seem to be fine which says to me it's not a problem with the cable from the house.
I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what might be causing this?
Thanks in advance.

Is anything plugged into any of the sockets? Say a freezer for example?YNWA

First off, sockets should be on a separate circuit to the lights. How is it set up ? Do you have 2 circuit breakers in the CU in the house, one for "Garage Sockets" and another for "Garage Lights" ? Or is there one circuit fed from the house, going to a separate CU in the garage, where it's split into "sockets" and "lights".
Either way, it sounds like you've got a fault on the socket circuit. Start off by unplugging everything in the garage, then plug stuff back in one by one until you find the item that's causing the circuit to trip. Then you can look at that item and sort out what the problem is.
If the circuit trips with nothing plugged in, then that points to a fault in the wiring itself - probably best to get an electrician in to have a look.0 -
Gonna need more information. As mentioned above, is there a fridge or freezer out there? Sounds like something is kicking in occasionally. Follow Scrooge's advice.0

We have the the power cables running into the garage and the fusebox in the garage with two switches, lights and sockets. The sockets switch is the one that trips, even with nothing plugged in.

Thanks!
So just to be clear you have a single power cable running into the garage, where it splits to sockets and lights, both fused, but the sockets one trips with nothing connected to it?
I'd check the sockets - are all wires connected tightly? could the trip fuse be faulty itself?
Turn all power before checking anything!0
