Hi
Im a bit peeved here so would like some feedback on your opinions on this situation. All my listings state payment within 7 days. Most of my items can only be paid by paypal due to a lot of nonpayers mucking me about. Now I have got another problem- echeques !
I sold an item on the 17th and on the 20th sent a reminder to the buyer mentioning that I was going away shortly and that payment would be required so I could get his item posted before I went. He never replied to my email but sent an echeque payment on Friday. Now this is not going to clear until 1st of june- the day I go away. Now as I said I want payment within 7 days , by paying by echeque and taking 2 weeks are they breaking my conditions ?
I now am annoyed but also do not want to post his item before I go as he can cancel the payment but I dont return until the 9th .I also have another two people who have still not paid and if they pay by echeque I will be in the same situation.

I would e-mail him and explain that you stated paypal as your payment method and explain you cant post until cheque has cleared therefore postage will be delayed, he may decide to pay via paypal instead0

He has paid by paypal but the money has been sent by paypal as an echeque and not a direct payment.
This happens for two reasons, firstly, an error on the part of paypal. They sometimes have blips and send everything as an echeque for some very strange reason. Or secondly funds weren't available from the nominated source so funds had to be withdrawn from a bank account and cleared into paypal before paypal could clear the money outwards.
The bad news is that these e cheques take for ever to clear, the estimated clearance date is often out by as much as a week. The last one I had took about 12 working days to clear.
Technically though the buyer has paid so I'm not sure you can really submit a NPB claim, it would be a bit harsh. I think in your case I would email the buyer and send them a copy of the email you receievd from paypal explaining about not sending out the goods until the echeque has cleared. If you ar eonly away for a short while just tell the buyer that you will despatch goods immediately on your return.

Thanks Soolin . I would never have filed a non payer but am a bit unsure of the feedback I should leave. This is the 2nd echeuqe in a wekk and yip they have all taken 12 days. I did email him saying that as he had paid by echeque I do not send out goods until the payment was cleared. At first the payment he made said 4 days but I checked this morning and now it is saying the 1st. He has not replied to any of the emails I have sent. This seems to be a running thing with people who pay by echeque , they never respond to emails ! Im just worried that im going to get an undeserve neg plus Im getting a bit fed up of saing paywithin 7 days and having to wait two weeks
