Charges from previous suppliers.
My current supplier is Iresa, my previous supplier was Co-operative and previous to that Sainsburys.
I have not cancelled any direct debits.
I have recently received a demand from Sainsburys for £137.40 a charge dated February 2016, it seems the delay in notification was caused by a dispute between Sainsburys and Co-operative providers, although Co-operative assure me they have no record of any dispute.
I have now received a demand from my last supplier Co-operative energy for £223.39.
Now this seems to be an estimate from when my now new supplier Iresa took over, the Co-operative raised a demand on an estimate on my electric when we changed suppliers but never explained that this is what they needed to do, I was then told it is for me to contact my current supplier to some how find what the 'take over' meter reading might be.
My point being I havent cancelled any DD's and I am finding this all a bit unduly messy.
Should I just phone up and pay the aforementioned demands or not ?
What do you reckon ??

Have you not got the opening and closing readings from the swaps and you should always keep your bills, especially the last one from the previous supplier.
Without your own records you will find it difficult to challenge all of these. Keeping a track of your bills & payments is fundemental to ensuring that you don't get caught up in this sort of problem. You should always ensure that bills or on line statements are checked regularly and any esimated bills must be corrected by giving an up to date meter reading.
Most energy companies have on-line accounts which allow you to download and save your statements (you dont have to print them - just save them).
Once you've left an energy company they usually close your access to the on-line account but that doesn't mean they don't keep the records.
You need to ask them for a full breakdown of where all these cost are coming from, not just accept a demand for paymentNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

Thank you, to be honest this is my elderly parents that have received this, I am sure they will have filed away all the letters etc. but they insist there have been no previous communication regarding these demands.
It just occurred to me that the Sainsburys sudden billing from over a year ago seems a little odd as is the Co-op demand on an unsubstantiated amount.
I will take a closer look.0
