Postage
Polmop
I purchased a T shirt with a postage cost of £4.75, and it was delivered yesterday with the postage shown as £2.33
Do you think I would be over the top to ask why there was a difference or is that acceptable
Thanks

packing materials , labour and fuel costs to drop off point , it was probably £4.47 postage AND PACKAGINGSave a Rachael

47.5 p of that postage went to eBay and another proportion went to PayPal before you start to work out if it was fair postage and packing or not.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. As above there are extra costs other than the stamp price. Also some companies make some of their money out of the postage charge.
Unfortunately once you purchase the item then you accept the postage costs. It is no good questioning it afterwards. If it is an Ebay item you can always make your unhappiness on the postage mark up via feedback you leave. If its non-Ebay then most companies you can leave feedback on through review sites.0 -
you were happy with the overall price including the p&p. and went ahead with the purchase.
£2.42 difference...which if you break that down..
0.48p ebay charge on the postage
0.20p ? Paypal fee
0.40P ? packaging
2.95 labour cost ( 15 mins at nmw. this does not include the time
travelling to post office and waiting to pay and the time to do
the transaction).
Plus the petrol cost to go to the post office.
so i make that £4.03 min it has cost the seller additional costs on top of the actual postage to send the T.shirt to youWork to live= not live to work0 -
Fair points, thanks0

Another point to bear in mind that if you pay P&P to a seller that is registered for VAT (I don't know if this is the case here), then they are legally required to account for VAT on both the postage and packing costs so if the P&P cost £4.75 then 95p of that goes directly to HMRC.0

The only time you can have complaint about p&p is if they do not post it using stated method. e.g if they post 2nd class when they advertised as 1st0

I agree with the comments above, but sellers charging p&p that is well above the cost of the stamp invite getting poor star ratings and feedback. It doesn't seem a good business strategy for the long term.0

I always factor it all in the B.I.N. price.

I agree, sellers that charge for everything including their time tend to not last long anymore. There's also no point, might as well add the costs into the item price as fees are the same.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
