Hi
My hubbie, family and self are off the Florida in November this year. I organised insurance thro' travel agents....At the time hubbie was fit and well, since then he has had a problem with a blocked bile duct and was admitted to hospital. This cleared itself and he is fine with diet changes at the moment. He is on a WAITING LIST for his gall bladder to be removed, 18 week waiting list. Insurance company will not cover him for this, even though when I paid the premium he was fit and well! They will not return the premium I paid either.
Am I expecting too much for them to cover him as he was well when the cover was taken out??
I was thinking about talking to an insurance ombudsman. Is there anyone who would cover him for this trip as he is on a waiting list?

I would give Direct Insurance a ring. They specialise in pre-existing medical conditions.
Just for hubby mind, leave your yours/family's insurance as it is.

Hi
I got annual medial cover and because i have very slight Asthma and because it got better and i was taken off my inhaler they put a £70 excess to pay, beat that one.I am going to complain0 -
Why should they cover him for that? It's travel insurance, not medical insurance.
He is probably still covered, just not for any bile duct related illnesses. That isn't unreasonable.
If you want to be covered for a pre-existing ailment, you'll have to apply to a specialist insurer.
Since medical costs in the USA can reach unreasonable heights, don't expect low premiums.
Don't waste your time complaining. If he first suffered from the ailment whilst abroad, he would be covered.
Maybe you are covered under Cancellation or Curtailment, if you'd like to cancel your trip.0
