Lloyds posting a verification code? How many days to arrive?

Lloyds sending a Verification code in the post? #How many days to arrive?

When doing online banking, and setting up online payments, it is asking as a verification step for a verification number to be posted in the post,

and then when this arrives, enter this number online to proceed.

How long does this verification code /paper take to arrive in the post ??

how many days?

Are you trying to set up a new bill payment?
If so it prompts you to choose either your landline or mobile number to receive a 4 digit code which you enter onscreen to proceed.
Mine have always been done this way and are instant - I have never had to wait for a postal one.

It's the other way round for me. They display a code online, and then ring me on either my home or mobile phone number, whichever I selected. I then need to enter the code displayed into the phone to approve the payment.

I can't recall that Lloyds ever sent me any verification code by post. Certainly not for setting up a new payment.

This sounds like the very first setting up of the facility. I'd guess within 5 working days.

It doesn't matter how many times you ask the question (here and on the Credit Card board at least) the answer is still going to be 5 days plus or minus a few days - so anywhere between 2 and 8 days really.

OP is referring to the initial set up of online banking. You can register and view your accounts online but you need to wait on an activation code being posted out before you make a payment for the first time. This typically takes 5 working days.

Actually you can't now view your accounts online before you get the activation code.

This is because there was a loophole at HBOS whereby someone with the correct name, address and date of birth of someone else who was a Halifax (resp. BOS) customer (regardless of whether other details were correct) could open a current account with Bank of Scotland (resp. Halifax) and immediately gain access to the customers existing accounts with the other brand through setting up online banking with the alternative brand and also transfer money between them.
