Half of your switch has been accepted, and half rejected

I had an email from MSE's Cheap Energy Club this morning titled "Half of your switch has been accepted, and half rejected". I am switching from First Utility to Economy Energy. Much panic ensued until I checked with the suppliers:

I phoned Economy Energy who told me everything was going through fine.
I checked online with First Utility who said I had already left them.

So what is going on MSE? Is someone trying to do me out of the cashback for switching through the MSE website??

Has anyone else had this problem? The lady at Economy Energy said I wasn't the first she had spoken to this morning with the same issue.

  • Hi Zarquon1,

I'm sorry to hear that Economy Energy seems to have given us the wrong information about your switch.

In order to pay your cashback, we need confirmation from your supplier that your switch has been successful and the switching referral fee from it. We then split this fee with you for your cashback.

If your supplier only tells us that one part of your switch has gone through, it only passes along the referral fee for that fuel. This means we're only able to pay the cashback for that part.

However if you drop us an email to energyclub@moneysavingexpert.com, we'll be able to chase this up with Economy Energy for you.

    Hope this helps.
