New to this forum and just looking for info please.
I was just going through old paperwork and found our critical life cover
It's actual heading says Mortgage protection
It says on the front
Benifit premium
Cost of the Cristal life cover,
Cost of premium protection.
Then on next page it shows summary of mortgage cost in total
Mortgage cost
Premium on mortgage protection cost
Then has accident sickness and unemployment
Is this a PPi ?
Sorry for my ingnorance but I hadn't noticed it before and didn't realise sickness etc was included, was this mandoatry with this sort of cover .?
And didn't require it as already had that and we both had good jobs with sick pay etc.
Thanks

Critical illness cover and life assurance are not PPI.was this mandoatry with this sort of cover .?
Most lenders had it as a mandatory requirement upto around the mid to late 90s with a few stragglers into the early 2000s.
However, most people take these out for their mortgages. It is common sense to do so. It really doesnt matter if its mandatory or not.And didn't require it as already had that and we both had good jobs with sick pay etc.
Whilst group CIC does exist, it is a very rare employer that offers this and for both of your of you to have CIC through the workplace would be extremely rare. Are you really sure your employer offered this?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. We got the mortgage in 2001
What I mean is I had a sickness, accident and unemployment cover prior to this with someone else.
We get sick pay from work for 6months then half for 6 months, so did the sickness etc need to be included.
Sorry maybe I'm just confused and not understanding it all0 -

That is pre-regulation.What I mean is I had a sickness, accident and unemployment cover prior to this with someone else.
CIC and life cover does not overlap with that.We get sick pay from work for 6months then half for 6 months, so did the sickness etc need to be included.
With MPPI, that is not an issue. The FOS have been rejecting complainst with 12 months sick pay with MPPI and even some types of credit card PPI. The issue over sick pay is mainly whether the PPI would pay out in addition to sick pay or not (if yes, then not a problem. if no, then its an upheld complaint).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
