    Huh?

    £48,000 owed

Roughly 22 months in between (though I suspect that you worked it using 20 as this gives an integer).

    48,000 / 22 = £2181 per month

You also didn't mention tax.... if 48k is post tax then it is equivalent to a 34k per year wage. If 48k is pre-tax then it is equivalent to a 26k wage.

Though I have to say that this part made me chuckle
I don't have the money to pay the fee for the Money Claim Online Service

How can that be if you are on a wage which is:

    £x basic + either £34k or £26k extra per year ?

USUALLY the basic is close to or above the extra amount. The only possible exceptions would be commission based jobs, like footballers or selling cars/houses etc. Or if you get a huge bonus. So, in effect, you should either be minted due to your basic wage OR you should have sufficient credit to get a credit card/loan and submit your claim. Unless you've got a gambling/drug problem...?

Sounds like you are blagging it because there is some ill blood. That's my own personal opinion. You MAY, however, be entitled to a lower amount and you should probably focus your energy on claiming a more reasonable amount....
