Unseasonal Request - Recommendation for Winter Tyres/Wheels
Comments
-
I had some for a few years. I could just about guarantee that it would snow : just before the weekend I was planning to fit them, and again just after I took them off ; and never in between.I had a set of full winter tyres . . . that I swapped onto the car at the first sign that winter was looming0 -
What size tyres have you got?
205/55 16 91V ?
I'd go for Continental WinterContact TS860
You should find them for around £90 each.
But you can get winter tyres in that size starting around £40 each.
As for wheels I'd be checking on eBay or doing the rounds of the local car-breakers.
Winter tyres and two sets of wheels is definitely the way to go - unless you can guarantee that the temperature isn't going to drop below 7 degrees next Winter.
So many people still think that Winter tyres are only for snow.
It's actually all about low temperatures.0 -
Put Cross Climates on ours last year , just had the one bad dose of snow last November and case was fine (very hilly here) . But as Iceweasel says its not just about snow , they perform well in low temps/wet roads .0
