I switched from BG to First Utility in Feb of this year and have nothing but problems with them since
My DD was set up with them for £55 per month and the first payment was taken without a hitch
2 weeks into my second month with them i received an email stating my payments were going up to £230 per month
I phoned them and after being on hold for 20 mins in a queue i finally got through and was told by their agent that she had no idea why the payment was going up to that amount and she adjusted it back down to £55
This was then taken
I then checked my bank account last month and they hadn't taken a payment so that led to another lengthy wait on the phone and after finally getting through i was told that they had no idea why no payment was taken as she could see that the DD was ok
I had to make a payment using my debit card and had to demand that they send me an email whilst on the phone to advise me that the DD had been closed (i didnt want to end up paying twice) and that they would set up another DD for the 25th of this month
I then received another email confirming this had been set up
This morning i have received an email from them telling me my bank has cancelled it
Having checked with the bank this was never set up
I have phoned them and after another 20 mins listening to their on hold music i got through to customer services
I informed her i wish to cancel the account and was told she would have to put me through to cancellations - another 10 minutes later the line conveniently went dead
If i was a bad payer then i wouldn't care but all i want to do is pay my bills
I switched to FU after doing the comparison thing and its the worst thing i have ever done and would not recommend them to anybody
