automated call from HM Customs

I just received an automated call from HM Customs and revenue. The call basically said that a lawsuit was being taken out against me by HMCR. Nothing else, no phone numbers to call back. I'm going to assume that this was some kind of scam, I'm quite sure that if it was genuine HM Customs wouldn't send out automated calls like that.
I've had emails before telling me that I am owed tax but I always ignore them. I'm thought it was probably worth mentioning this just in case somebody else gets one and doesn't know what to do.

Definitely a scam, see https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/phishing-and-bogus-emails-hm-revenue-and-customs-examplesRecorded message threatening Legal Action
There is currently a telephone scam where a recorded message is left, allegedly from HMRC, stating that HMRC are bringing a lawsuit against the individual and are going to sue them. The recipient is asked to phone a telephone number and press ‘1’ to speak to the officer dealing with the case. This scam is becoming widely reported and seems to be targeting older people.A witty saying proves nothing0
