Card Clash TFL

On Monday I had an appointment at Moorfields Eye Hospital, I'm 67 and have Freedom Pass, which is what I used on the journey, or at least that's what I thought.

On Tuesday this appeared on my bank statement ... 27th JUNE TFL TRAVEL CHARGE TFL.GOV.UK/CPGBContactless, card ending XXXX - £7.80

So at some point on the journey my VISA card (same wallet, in different compartment) was read rather than my Freedom Pass, is it possible to get a refund ?

Thanks, I did eventually get the charge removed today, but oh my gosh what a palaver, it took around 40 mins on the phone, their machine couldn't recognize my VISA card details, anyway it's done now. cheers!

My bank agreed to re-pay the amount charged by London Transport, together with an additional £20 for inconvenience caused, and to send me out a regular type card in 5 days. I never wanted or requested a card that transmits my payment details, there was no information sent with the card, contactless cards should be an option, in my case it was only made an option after I sent them a written complaint saying I didn't want one.

That's interesting. I'm pretty sure all of my contactless cards have had a leaflet enclosed explaining how they work. On the few occasions I've used one on TFL I make sure it's well away from other cards in my wallet.

I never keep bankcards in the same wallet as my Oystercard (not yet eligible for Freedom Pass).

I use RFID protectors for all my cards credit or debit so each one is protected and never had a problem either with contactless paying or any risk of card being scammed with these programs that are out there to duplicate the information.
