Removal of large tree in back garden

I've got a large copper beech tree in my back garden which looked a bit sad so had it checked by a tree consultant. Seems like the tree needs to go as it has got fungus infection.
Tree stump is about 1.1m wide and is 17m high with 18m canopy (according to the report of the tree consultant)
I got 2 quotes for felling the tree and removing waste - both have come painfully high at £5300 and £6400.
I'm based Surrey if that makes any difference.
Does this look like a fair price for removing the tree and grounding the stump?

That sounds very expensive - I had a tree, nowhere near that size - it was higher than the house and about 0.5m wide. Exact quote below for £600 inclusive of vat in south manchester. In addition to the tree it included removal of basically every bush in the garden, and then for seperate stump grinder to come and remove all stumps.
RE: Tree work at above address £0.00
Large Conifer (Cryptomeria) in rear garden - Fell to low stump £0.00
Grind stump leaving grindings on site £0.00
At same time as above - Fell all remaining woody plants in rear garden
except for Camelia in far RH corner (adjacent to summer shed door)
£0.00
Extra for grinding shrubs
£500.00
Total excluding VAT £500.00
VAT @
Total £600.000
