The 'game' was never intended to be for people like the OP whose only motivation is greed and self-interest.
It was meant to be for people living in Council houses who would never have a hope of being able to pay full price for a house on the open market. I think the theory behind it was that, in Thatcher's view, people who own their own house vote Tory and people living in Council houses vote Labour!
Anyway, that is not the case with the OP because, as she's so keen to brag about, she has a great job with a high salary and could easily afford to buy on the open market but, due to her and her mother's selfishness, she refuses to do so.
I therefore reserve the right to 'hate' her (as you put it) along with her mother!0 -

Plenty of people ask about putting an "owned" home into the names of offspring to avoid the sale of a family home to pay care costs. I can't decide if the opponents of RTB here are a little green-eyed at the thought of OP acquiring a home at a discount rather than having a genuine care about the mother.I'm a Forum Ambassador on The Coronavirus Boards as well as the housing, mortgages and student money saving boards. Personally I'm bothered about lack of housing stock for those with a genuine need because people like the OP have exploited a loophole
As with one of the other posters I see greed in the actions of the OP rather than a genuine social housing need together with a whole load of risk should it all unravel - although we've little background information to go on I wouldn't be sacrificing my future life/happiness to potentially make a bit on the property market.
The only exception that would make me see it differently is if the property is genuinely special/a one-off that makes for a perfect long-term future home0 -

I'm concerned about the mother. If she loses that home and has to rent privately all she will be able to afford is a room in a shared house. That is all single people with a low income can get.
What bothered me was the house being repossessed and the mother having to rent somewhere on her own.0 -
