  • Another christmas another RM strike , come on guys sort your Union out every year we get this bullsh*t , its getting old real fast. Now everyonewho has ordered via net or whatever prolly wont get there items for loved ones , you would gain much more respect from public and RM if you didnt hold us all to ransom every year, to be honest your like terrorists causing maximum disruption and misery. This why i dont like unions , everyone at my workplace says we should have a union and i never agree because i dont agree with striking all it does is casue resentment, if you dont like your conditions leave your job dont afflict others with your petty whims.

that feels better. Personally i feel the CWU should be investigated for purposefully using tactics to cause disruption to the nations mail service and causing misery to millions of peoples and businesses.

I know who are happy about this... courier companies. My work has already decided to shift all deliveries from Wednesday to them.

    you realise its not national?
petty whim? 600 facing no job isnt really a whim is it.
im not going to argue the rights and wrongs as its not my job on the line (yet) so i cant say what those affected should do
  • Confused! These posts are tagged onto the end of a 2007 thread about last years postal strikes. If theres another strike this christmas what are the dates ,departments and regions affected if anyone knows because I have heard absolutely nothing about another strike?

its mail centres and this week i know that the Edinburgh mail centre(plus others i assume) are dealing with 'diversion' sorting from the affected MC's to try and make sure those MC's affected are as clear as possible

As a postie I have to back the strikers, as many of them will soon be joining the dole queue & the ones who are lucky enough to keep their jobs will have to travel over 50 miles a day to & from work for £265 a week. However I think that RM will just go ahead with their plans & continue to destroy this once great institution. As with the strikes last year, part of the reason for striking is again to do with the service to the public. You people slating the posties will be the ones moaning when the service is even worse than it has already become.

  • I think they should sack them all.there are plenty of people on the dole who would deliver post for the money the rm are on.They knew the pay structure when they started the job so they should just stop moaning and get on with it.They are letting the public down at a time when they need them. You dont see woolworths staff going on strike because they are losing there jobs do you!!!!

Just shows how ignorant you are Monkeyfish, the strike IS about people at RM losing their jobs, it has nothing to do with the pay. Comment on here by all means, but please get your facts right first!

its not delivery workers nor is it about pay or the structure
its about losing jobs pure & simple
the woolworth staff are holding out for a buyer
if all these folks on the dole would deliver for RM then why dont they?
    RM are still hiring

you should do a stand up show! most of them people on dole will jump at the job of being postie ONLY TO ROB YOUR POST! and another lot of them would want to work so "hard" in there view to earn the end wage,

The Unions couldnt do nothing to Rover, and Rover dug them selfs into a ditch, Woolworths did them samething when their CEO sold stores which where freehold only to rent them back, and he also had a smart idea to take on 300mill of kingfisher's debt,

Should they let RM do the same ?? hell no! post offices are already closing!!,

All in all RM Service isnt as good as it was, I get my mail at 10am/11am, You might be to young to remember getting mail at 8am When someone was in to collect it!!,

    Side note:
These corp firms what to make X amount of profit regardless, when they say they made a loss, what they mean is they just didnt make 400million profit like they did last year, they made 200million etc, a loss of 200million, awwwww poor corp firm, my @ss greedy fo's the lot of them,

If the Unions can put fire up these ceo's @sss then lcarry on,
