Leaving BT cintract

Hi there
I am having to leave my BT contract early as I have to move abroad, I signed for a 24 month phone and Internet but have to finish at the end of July, BT want to charge me £331 plus £34 to disconnect the internet, this seems rather unreasonable, obviously I never new I was going to have to move abroad when I signed up last year.
Is there anyway I can get this reduced, I did expect some charge but not this much.

Any help gratefully received

I assume it's the amount that you would have to pay BT if you fulfilled your contract? If that's the case, it is not unreasonable.

If you have no intention of coming back to this county then you could just ignore it and not pay them.

However, if you intend on returning to the UK then it's in your best interests to pay up. You don't want to come back to debt collectors hassling you and a possible CCJ which would impact your ability to get credit in the future.

If you are moving for a job, does your company pay you relocation expenses? If so, can you add this charge to it?

You need to keep in mind that it's you, not BT that are changing the terms of the contract, and it's in the T&C's what the penalty is for early termination
It's easy to be wise after the event, but a 24 month commitment is quite a long time, so a contract like that should be only be undertaken when there is absolutely no prospect of cancellation as the ETC's as you have found can be painful
