One for all remote control .. best one to get ?

Howdy!
Too many remotes! What's the best of the above that you'd recommend? I assume that the Apple tv will always be independent tho':)
Thanks

I've got a couple in the drawer that I bought and couldn't get used to.
They don't do everything the dedicated remote did so got filed and I just used the 2 or 3 originals.

Thanks for the swift response :)
I had a feeling , that was the case . Its probably why I've left it until now to do something . I may have to do the same approach as you

I've found that dedicated remotes have specific buttons to control menus, etc that all-in-ones don't have.
If you want to give one a go, your local pound-shop might have some.

I use a one 4 all essence 4 remote which allows you to either input a code for your specific device or, where it is an unsupported control, you can use the 'magic' function to teach the remote control the function for each key.

I had to do this with an old Sagem pvr where certain buttons didn't always work and also added in a small number of functions for my hi fi amplifier which was also unsupported.

I can't see why you couldn't include an Apple remote this way.

The magic function setup is a slow process but it does work.

The Essence 4 often comes on offer in Sainsbury's and Tesco for under a tenner.

    Logitech Harmony & Hub.

You can get them on deals on Amazon. They do take a fair bit of set up, but once done are brilliant.

Basically, we press one button (on the touch screen) that will switch on all the kit that is needed to operate that particular task and it sets the right inputs to the right devices.

So, the TV button switches on Sky Box, TV and the Soundbar - Sets the TV to the right input, enters channel 101 to the sky box and sets the soundbar to the right input. If we want to say, play the XBOX - it just turns off what isnt needed (sky box), turns on what is (XBOX) and sets the inputs accordingly.

Or, we just say 'Alexa, turn on television' - as its wifi based, a/ it connects to Alexa and b/ operates the XBOX,Sky Box etc behind a door, no direct line of sight needed.

Also will work with Nest to set the heating as well as a few other smart home devices. You could go one step further and use the trigger from Nest 'Away' to turn off the TV if you had left it on....

Currently £109. There is a newer version available, but make sure you get the one with the hub as thats what converts the wireless signal to IR for the remote blasters and connects to other smart devices.

I've been using a One4All URC 7557 for a few years now, in fact I don't think you can buy this particular model anymore although there seems to be a page over a Amazon still!

Still works just fine ... controls TV, DVD player, AV amp , Virgin TIVO box and I've even taught it to control my old Sony Playstation (which I use to play CD's ... a rare event though!)

Of course there are still certain buttons you have to 'teach' it , from the old remotes but this is easy enough.

We've got a Logitech Harmony 650 which works all of our devices including the Apple TV. Seems to be the best bang for buck IMO.

I tried a poundland one, but it was pretty useless. No red/green/yellow/blue buttons on the version I got.

Very happy with one-for-all 7140 - the 4-device version. Unlike the 2- or 3-device versions, you can learn functions from another remote. And they can go on as a shifted feature on a key, so you don't have to lose the original meaning of that key.

Usually around £18, but as Neil49 said, I got it for £10 from Sainsburys when I saw it on offer.
