Capital One Without Credit Search

Hi all,
So I applied for and was accepted for a Capital One Classic credit card, and it arrived two months ago. While the account has appeared on my 3 credit reports (as checked with Clearscore, MSE and Noddle), Capital One didn't complete a hard search on my file with any of the 3 agencies, only soft searches. This isn't a complaint or anything, I'm just curious if this is the norm? I would have thought that a hard search would have been necessary.

No, I was preapproved on the website via their quick search, but nothing more than that.0

I think they are quite accommodating of risky customers. They stuck with me when things were difficult.0
