Help with FreeView Recorder Upgrade

Hello,
My dear mother is after an upgrade to her current tv setup so we went out and bought her a new 43" ultra 4k Samsung tv
However she likes to record her programs whilst at work so she currently uses an old TalkTalk Huawei DN372T box, I believe this is already HD but my question is is there a freeview box with recorder which will give a better picture or is it down to the actual channels rather than the freebox itself?
I've found the BT Youview DTR-T4000 which looks to be UHD?
She doesn't want a subscription and lives in a flat so don't want to go down the sky route
Thank you

Don't know much about 4K but I think 4K sources will cost.AlexandLauren wrote: »my question is is there a freeview box with recorder which will give a better picture or is it down to the actual channels rather than the freebox itself?
The DN372T should be fine as it is for HD channels (101...) but I'm assuming your Mother watches SD?0 -

I think she watches a variety of stuff but generally older programs on channels like Gold which will probably be SD
When people say about 'upscaling' is that the TV or the youview box that does any upscaling to a better picture quality? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

In this case it will be the TV. If the box was 4K it could be either depending on settings. It wont necessarily be a better picture when unscaled partially SD could actual be worse, HD should be OK though. Without 4K sources a full HD TV would have been a better choice for SD viewing.0 -
