Avon Christmas 'bargain bag' - no bargain

DD and me decided to order one of these from the Avon lady and split the cost - they're £10. It's like a lucky dip and its stated in the brochure that the goods will be worth a minimum of £30. I'd had one years ago and remembered it was full of stuff.
Anyway when the bag arrived it only contained 5 items, not including any make-up at all, and at a very generous estimate the value was about £18. Its stated on the brochure that you can only return the bag if unopened. The bag is sealed shut so you have to rip it open to see what you've got - very clever.
I'm not blaming my Avon lady for this, she just takes the order, but I will make sure NEVER to order any of Avon's 'bargain' packs again.

Ask your Avon Rep to take it back.
I am an Avon Rep and I would probably accept it back from you as I would prefer to have a happy customer.
As a rep you always end up with stock it's part of the job but you can soon shift it at a car boot or to family/friends. Always worth asking.
Although if someone constantly did it I would maybe not offer to take it back.I'm not lost. I'm just going the long way round.....0 -
The fact that they state that you can only return it if unopened I don't think matters if it's not as descibe and only contains £18 worth of stuff not £30. Surely worth quizzing your rep about. Good Luck0

Oh no.... I've just gone and ordered that. I hope mine turns out to be a bit more generous.0 -
Im a rep too and would hate any of my customers to feel conned by the bonusy type bag (or non-bonus bag as it appears to be!) some of these are genuinely very good - but I'd definatley take one back - and I'm sure Avon do too - despite their little "no refund if bag is opened" - they're not usually that bothered! good luck!

Tbh its probably just the bag doesnt really suit the OP
Im sure other people would be delighted at the value
Unless the products are worth less than £30 - on the market as opposed to the OP's valuations- avon have done nothing wrong0 -
The products will be worth £30 probably when they were costing the most in the catalogue. I love avon and i regularly order from my SIL but I wouldn't order one of these bags ever because you just don' know what your getting.** Mummy to little Jenna born on 23/12/07 **
• Pigsback - £11.25 (£30 cashed!) •
• Valued opinions - £5.75 (£0.25 pending) •

ps
i remember their mens after shave years ago,my mum used to buy it for me every christmas,i think it was called black suede,i didn't have the heart to tell her it smelt like cats p..s.0 -
Like the earlier poster, I am an Avon rep and I have taken one of these back from a customer who was unhappy with it. It is no problem for a rep to sell the items individually. Can I ask what was in it?
Womble 100 - they still sell Black Suede, but I've never sold any! I'll send you a bottle if you like!0 -
I am not going to ask the Avon lady to take it back because she's not been doing it long, and its really not her fault. She has not been long in this country and English is not her first language. Also, her DD is at school with mine. Also we have already sprayed the scent! Thanks for the info though.
If you want to know what the bag contained:
a small shower radio - I think this is the kind of thing you can pick up in a
bargain shop for less than a fiver. We have one
already but it will do in someone's Xmas present
a makeup bag - quite pretty I admit, but don't see how it could be
worth more than £4
a kind of double hair brush which is supposed to be for hairstraightening (with out power???) very plasticy looking and looks about £2 worth. However, DD thought it was OK
some perfume - pretty bottle although don't think much of the scent.
Again, this could go in someone's Xmas present. £4?
tube of face wash - actually this I can use. £3 maybe?
So £18 worth by my estimate.
I had just assumed there would be makeup and/or nail polish included (which DD loves) and that there would be more than 5 items. Seeing as these are discontinued items that they haven't sold anyway I think Avon could afford to be a lot more generous.
I've got no complaints with the rest of the stuff I've orderd over the last few months. In fact I was delighted to get an Avon rep as there hasn't been one round here for years.0
