Good evening everyone,
I purchased a 2013 Peugeot 208 3 months ago from a reasonable sized dealership and it had a couple of issues from the off. The first was squeaky brakes, the other is intermittently when idling it would sit at about 800 revs and feel like it was going to stall then the revs would go up a touch to stop it stalling then back down again and so on, it has never actually stalled while idling. Also when I put my foot on the accelerator to get it to the biting point and at 1500 revs (as an example) it would go up to 1700 and back down again repeatedly without me moving the accelerator.
Also, and I definitely think this is related to the issue above, the engine warning light (emissions) keeps coming on for a day or so then back off again.
First time the dealers garage had a look at it they cleaned the brakes for the squeaking (didn’t work) and played about with the sensors/solonoids for the warning light….this popped on again a few days later so this didn’t work either.
Second time in the garage they changed the brake pads and discs, winner, no more squeaking. They also changed the oil and filter as they thought the wrong grade of oil had been used and that was causing the issue. 4 days later the light has popped back on and I’m still having the same performance issues. In fairness they have done all the above without quibble under their 3 month warranty which has just expired.
Now, I am a bit fed up, I have wasted hours of my time going back and forth but nevertheless I have booked it in again (3rd time) for the 11th July, there’s always a few weeks to wait! My questions is at what point to I call it a day and ask for either my money back or take it to a garage who may have some idea how to fix it? Any help or advice would be much appreciated and thank you in advance.
