EE Credit

I have today tried to open a contract for a phone with EE. I am doing this on behalf of my son whose was declined credit yesterday. On advise from the store he came home and checked his credit rating which was good 526 / 700. We can still see no reason he was declined but in order to speed up the process of his getting a phone I said I'd open a account with his billing details for payment.
I was also declined. I am 50 yrs old with all the relevant banking and credit history that goes with that age. I have never been turned down for any credit ever in my adult life and nothing has changed in our circumstances. Still have a mortgage and joint bank account is in the black.
What i really want to know is how this result will affect my credit rating and any credit that we may be lightly to require in the future.
The company they use Equifax. I can't help, thinking there is something wrong in their system.
Thanks for any help in this matter.

What actually appears on your credit files? Be sure to check all 3, Equifax, Experian and Call Credit.
Disregard your credit score score. It is not seen or used by anyone.0 -
You have 2 choices, he either buys a phone outright and gets either a payg or pay monthly sim or you buy a phone outright.
Declines arent listed on reports, just the searches are.0 -
If you are with BT for BB or phone then buy one with BT. They use the EE network. Plus BT are cheaper!0

There in lies your answer.
The DD instruction details MUST match the person applying for the contract.
Because you applied in your name, using his bank details, they would not match you see, so it would be an automatic decline.
Read EE`s T`s & C`s, this is one of there conditions.
