Around the world in 35 days.

My girlfriend and I are planning to embark on a round the world trip taken over five weeks. We've been to STA and we were quoted £1460 each, staying in L.A, Raratonga, New Zealand, Hong Kong and home. We're going out really for our friends wedding so could cut out LA and Hong Kong. Does anyone have any idea how we could save money on the flights, if anything?

Regards

Don't miss Raratonga Stay at Vara's Beach House and hire a motor bike. You need to take a test, which virually involves staying on round the block. Great snorkelling at Fruits of Raratonga. Take some reef shoes. If I was going to leave anywhere out, and I've been to them all on your list, it would be LA. If you fly ANZ you can do Fiji too, which is a good stop.
    Enjoy!

    There are these 3 flights

BA LHR-Santiago De Chile via Sao Paulo or Buenos Aires

LANChile Santiago De Chile-Sydney via Auckland

BA Sydney-LHR via Singapore or Bangkok

sometimes a travel agent can book these at good prices with extra free stop overs, perhaps call www.trailfinders.com

There is also www.thegreatescapade.com that includes Air NZ

You can do your entire itinerary on Air NZ - is this what you've been quoted? (Although only 1 flight a week LA - Raratonga)

I would have thought you could get it several hundred pounds cheaper - have STA quoted a complex multi-airline ticket? Compare against someone else. Or maybe even come back via LA to save money.
  • Yes STA quoted a multi airline ticket. I'll definately try doing the whole thing via ANZ. Thanks.

I think from memory you're ok with ANZ provided you keep going in one direction and don't go back on yourself.
  • Thank you so much to all who helped me with the round the world flights. With your help we've managed to save £970.00! That is incredible!!!

Good. Which airlines and routing did you decide on in the end?

  • Went right back to STA after we were able to find a ticket for £1046 with ANZ then they beat down the price to £975 each.:j
