DialAround overcharging??

Dialled an 07795 number today for exactly 60 minutes using DialAround.
Their site quoted 6p/min, and before the call I turned on BT Charge Advice (*411#)
The total bill was just over £6.00, suggesting 10p/min.
Any ideas?

Welcome to the MSE forums MikeMac.
I think there's an easy answer to your query - you have confused Dialaround with DiscountDial
On the MSE UK Callchecker, DiscountDial is, indeed, shown as charging 6p/minute to call a UK mobile via 0871 754 4141 (BT's g12 rate).
However, DialAround charges 10p/minute via 0871 999 9292 (BT's g7 rate - although the 0871 999 number range does not yet show on the below price list for some reason).
The names are similar and it's easy to mix them up.
As you say you used DialAround, it looks like you were charged correctly - 10p/minute.
As a point of interest, such providers cannot overcharge because the gateway numbers they use determine the price the caller pays and the prices for specific number ranges are fixed. See the BT Specialised Numbers Price List.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Thanks Heinz, I guess I must have confused the two.0

Heinz - I tried again today and definitely used DiscountDial... (0871 754 4141) and this was the outcome:
46 minute call to 07.. mobile - £5.93
Am posting anew in case this is not seen

6p 'call set-up fee' + 46 x 6p = £2.82
You are dialling from a BT residential landline aren't you?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
