I ordered a replacement extractor fan from Tesco Direct. It arrived today and my electrician spent a couple of hours fitting it (hard to get to area in the loft and needed a mounting) switched on and didn't work but could feel heat from the PCB. Switched it off and removed it to send back as faulty and looked at the invoice in the box and noticed it wasn't actually my name. Another piece of paper was actually a returns label with a different name. I rang the guys phone number on the returns label and it turns out he returned it after 3 months as being faulty. It has just been sent straight back out to me! Not happy and my time down the flaming drain!

Rather than a big company like Tesco, this seems to be a small less responsible one, which uses Tesco's site as a market place; rather like sellers on Amazon.0

Even Tesco themselves can be guilty of selling faulty or unwanted returned goods as new - I once bought a slow cooker from Tesco, got home, unpacked it and found it contained the remains of someone else's casserole!0

I don't know whether this is still the case, but Argos used to sell all returns by the pallet load.
My son once bought a pallet of electrical goods ,knowing that a large number of items would have no problems ,people having made up excuses to return something they just didn't like but had use.
He made a profit because , just as he assumed, certain IT items, that he needed, were returned because people didn't know how to use them correctly and the products were faultless.
From that batch I got an electric can opener and hairdryer; both in good working order. Only a couple of items, including an iron, actually had faults.0
