The alternative is that there isn't a will and this firm applied to administer the estate, hoping that they could trace beneficiaries who will be happy to cough up 25% of any inheritance for being told who their missing relative is/what they are entitled to under the rules of intestacy. That's what happened to me a few years ago when I was contacted out of the blue (not by this firm but by another one operating in a similar field).

You won't need to give any bank details if you ask for settlement by cheque.
  • My cousin and I have had a similar shoddy experience, extremely slow to process and conduct research, they have been in receipt of the inheritance funds for over 10 months, I have completed all documents which have been accepted by them, payment has been approved, the GM Daniel Cane has promised to look into why payment hasn't been received.. a load of BS! No payment yet after 18 weeks since the accounts team were given to process and no reply since from Daniel Cane. I have passed onto the Legal Ombudsman to investigate. Highly disappointing that a sham organisation like this can be accredited to carry out this work!!

I am not sure why you think kitty had a shoddy experience because she never bothered to let us know what the outcome was.

As far as I can see Perane and Co Limited are not solicitors and are not regulated so I do not think the LO is going to be able to help you very much.
  • I saw an article on the Daily Mail site by TONY HETHERINGTON: Why has my £4,900 inheritance taken so long to arrive?

It’s all about Perane & Co, he maybe able to assist you. It sounds like your not alone!
