New Tenant Advice Please
So number one daughter has today picked up the keys to a flat she is renting whilst on a year long internship, and I am trying to get through all the usual stuff of sorting out gas, electric, water rates, telephone, etc. According to her tenancy agreement, it says her energy supplies are either through Spark energy or will be in the process of moving to them. However when I check the database it is saying Electricity Supply Plus, and Gas Supply Plus, which IIRC is now part of NPower and administered through Utility Warehouse or something along those lines.
I was going to contact Utility Warehouse to double check, but first would like to know if this is necessary. I would like to switch away from either of these to someone else, however, I was wondering whether I had to create an account with whoever does currently supply the premises, or can I just go for it and change it to whomever I deem suitable?
TIA
Lennie

You do have to register with whomever is the incumbent supplier first.
However, should you not let your daughter do this? Part if growing up is, you know, sorting all this out yourself.0 -
Yes, but she only got the keys today and starts her job on Monday, so time being off the essence and me unable to contribute in other ways, this is what I was left to do. She has sorted it out herself in her previous 2 houses, but in this instance, it was felt that I would be best deployed to this task.
The house has no internet or even a phone in it, and the mobile signal is crap. Tried to get it done at her place this morning to no avail, so have had to revert to driving to the nearest MacDonalds to get internet to sort this out, whilst she moves all her stuff in and gets on with bleaching the place from top to bottom and the landlord tries to figure out why the boiler is holding no pressure but showing no leaks.
Sometimes its handy being allergic to everything, I get to sit and sort out this stuff whilst enjoying regular latte's and buns, whilst she and her mother scrabble about in bleach0 -

Shanme you didn't spend your time & effort ensuring your daughter got a decent flat in a decent location that has internet, mobile and other services she will no doubt require and supplied via a decent landlord/agent.
Good luck!
