*Sigh* OH is supposed to be going to the fish and chip shop, we've not had "proper fish and chips" for ages, but he has got involved with his new Google Chrome Notebook which arrived today.
    ETA He's gone now.

It's also amazing what was considered acceptable subject matter for the picture side - I have one which depicts the wreckage from a train crash at Salisbury in 1906, which killed 28 people. The Edwardians certainly didn't just stick to "chocolate box" pictures.
    A different world.
They also used to have postcards of quite ordinary town scenes, with "Greeting from wherever" on the front.
Partly due to the novelty of more accessible photography possibly.

    I bl00dy would tonight.

I've "got off light" in the main as FunnyGirl's new friends found somewhere else to play... but tonight they're "here".... and annoying.

I've currently got three on the go, with bicycles/scooters, going back/forth/back/forth/back/forth along a 50 metre strip, 40' to the left of my sofa, shouting WOOOO WOOOO WOOOOOO WOOOOO WOOOOO at the tops of their voices... it's been an hour now.

I should be grateful Wally moved, else that'd be another 4.
I should be grateful one of the neighbours are currently on a week's holiday, else that'd be another 2.

    But I'm not.

Pastures, humour me, and try an experiment.

Go out there, and in your nicest, but feeblest voice, say to them that you've got the most awful headache, and aren't feeling well, (cross your fingers so that a thunderbolt won't strike you), and would they be ever such kind children and not scream any more? And thank them.

    Then see what happens.

Was reading a while back about how in the 19th century you could be on the coast and send a postcard home to London in the morning to get relatives to meet you at your destination by lunchtime the same day. Some places used to have up to fourteen collections a day.

Wonder how many deliveries they must have had in those days.

Without phones or emails, there was demand for it.

Just done some googling, and apparently the West Angles were the Mercians, and the North Angles were the Northumbrians.

There were also Middle Angles and South Angles.

I know this map is stretchy, so I'll delete it in a minute.

    Edit ...link to map......

I don't think anything of them were Right Angles, though. Neither did their houses have quadrangles.

Were the Angles the ones who lived in Roundhouses?

I am just about to go out to our local chippy too. I'm going to take New Dog - she needs a walk.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

And possibly even delivery by drone! :rotfl:

Some of it was spot on, even if a little after 1970.

He was a bit off mark about the no crime thing, though, and the peace abounding, bit. :(

Well, I think there is quite a lot less crime than there was in 1870, although people's perception of how much crime there is hasn't gone down to match.

    Can't get f/c delivered here.
Home delivery has a minimum order, that one person can very rarely ever hope to reach.

    .
I bet you can, through Just-Eat.

Plus......... what I do is order food to the minimum level (£12) or just over, then divide in half or thirds, cool one half (or two-thirds) quickly and stick it in the fridge to heat up the next day, etc.

With chips, I don't even mind eating them cold for breakfast! :D

Works out ok doing it like that.

There's no sine to suggest that, cos that would be tan-tamount to heresy!

Very true - I read an article last year which elicited that the Victorians went through a phase when pictures of dead animals were popular for Christmas cards !!
