I've never understood why people delete posts long after we have moved on from that page. I've also never seen it happen on any other thread or any other forum.
Presumably the deleters are well aware that nothing totally disappears and it's all on the internet somewhere, even if it is not visible to peeps casually reading back.
Do you remember, in the olden days, when people used to write stuff, you'd get an imprint of what you'd written forming on the sheet of paper under the one you'd actually written on!
Many a fictional murder was solved by that!
I suppose the modern equivalent is what you said; i.e. it's still all out there somewhere!
So, remember not to type in how you murdered the noisy neighbours, even if you do delete it afterwards! :rotfl:(I just lurve spiders!)

Or anyone who is making an effort to look for it. On the other hand it is like odd socks and turns up from time to time when you aren't looking for it.0 -
Well I have passed grade 8 on a musical instrument yet I don't hate anybody!
I always think it's best to assume Niceness unless proven otherwise!
Do you like mushrooms?
Many of the people who have passed grade 8 say they can prove I am not nice. On the other hand those that haven't taken any exams know that I am a nice person just trying to remove a bit of an obstruction to more people enjoying themselves.

I'm not sure I understand the correlation between Grade 8 instrumentalists and not-niceness.
Mushrooms and caterpillars, are of course, self-explanatory!(I just lurve spiders!)

Can't have a locked thread where you're slagging off somebody who might later discover your identity and find it and realise you were talking about them and as/if it's locked you can't delete!!
Pastures, in the spirit of helpfulness, would it be useful if I or others went back and deleted posts where we had perhaps quoted you with those key words?Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

At this rate, we'll soon be back to well under 500 pages on the old thread, and could just go back there! :rotfl: :rotfl:
Or we could keep it as a holiday home! :rotfl:
Just a thought...... doof could be a portmanteau word meaning a dopey yoof! Not a sound effect at all!(I just lurve spiders!)

Thanks for starting this thread Pyxis, not heard of the predecessors until now. Only one question - what's happened to part 15 (there doesn't seem to be a link to it)?0

The grade 8 thing usually happens if I am trying to help groups so understand that not all new potential members will have done grade exams at school. Also that adult late starters don't often bother playing lots of solo pieces because they started music in order to socialise. I am very interested in the social aspect of music rather than solos with piano in small rooms and one audience member. Some people like doing this but lots don't. I get called not nice when I suggest that community groups might like to consider that they take people who haven't done any exams. I mean if you are short of violas and there is a viola player looking for somewhere to play my logic says try to put the two together but some groups ask for the exams as standards for membership which seems to me to be cutting off your nose to spite your face. Surely a competent amateur player who can be a valuable member of your group but hasn't passed grade 8 is better than no one at all or even someone who passed grade 8 40 years ago and hasn't done a day's practice since? You would be surprised at the number of people who say that I am not nice when I suggest that people can make valuable members even if they haven't passed grade exams.0
