OH does that regularly. Interspersed with go-to-meetings that is a video conference call thingy. In fact the jet lag induced early wake up from last week's trip to Sydney meant getting up early yesterday for a Europe flight was less painful.
One tip would be to arrange lounge access (If no airline status or bank account freebie then buy it through priority pass or similar). It isn't just the food and drink in the lounge, but a quite place to sit away from the noise and milling people that makes a difference.
I'm tending to factor in the cost of lounges when I go away now.
So often I'm not feeling too good, so being able to sit in a comfy lounge with easy wifi and nice loos is good. The food is a bonus as I don't tend to like it much! I don't have any alcohol either.
Tip: avoid the Aspire lounge in Terminal 5 at Heathrow. I used it for the first time just recently. It's awful. Poky, cramped, very poor choice of food, mediocre coffee and no loos! (You have to use the ordinary airport loos).
I was lucky to get an armchair as there weren't many at all, mainly tables and dining chairs.
Plus the doorman wasn't very helpful at all. (Long story).(I just lurve spiders!)

If the pharmacy gets paid for doing these routine things, it's revenue that the surgery misses out on, and that's another nail in the coffin for GP surgeries.
Yet the next news story says there aren't enough appointment slots ... maybe because they've been taken up by people "wasting an important professional's time" .... doing mundane stuff.
If GPs just concentrated on seeing patients, things might be a bit smoother.0 -

A lot of the routine checks are done by the nurses at the Surgery, though.
Specially trained to do flu jabs, other jabs, asthma checks, other chronic illness checks. You wouldn't see the GP unless the nurse thought you needed to.
Also, a lot of surgeries close down or merge, because recruitment of GPs is dire. The difficulties of running a business and being a GP, you see. It's not a popular speciality with new doctors, you see, I was told by my practice's Manager.
So, don't want to make it more difficult for them by depriving them of revenue by succumbing to the Pharmacies taking over these acitivities.
It was quite an eye opener.(I just lurve spiders!)

Congrats PN
Another not all parents are investment bankers and those that are should realise this rant.
We spend a lot of money on kids football. Now DS's manager (who is a investment banker or similar) has decided that as well as the normal kit it would be great if they all got team hoodies at £36 a pop. It is of course entirely optional but of course there is a lot of peer pressure if the rest of the team have it and DS doesn't. It is doubly annoying as DS has a wardrobe full of suitable garments and there is no way we would normally spend half that much on any item.
End of RantI think....0 -

If parents didn't give in to the peer pressure thing, there wouldn't be any peer pressure.

Great news Pastures :T
Pyxis We've had medicine checks done by the pharmacy a couple of times; the pharmacist just checks that you are feeling ok on your meds, understand why they've been prescribed, and ask if you have any concerns about any of them. My understanding is that the govt has told them to offer the service to save a GP's appointment, but of course it's not compulsory.0 -

Oh yes, I did have one done before I found out that they get a fee for it, which imo should go to the GP surgery.
Then I refused them. I still have to have an annual review with the GP or nurse, so it doesn't save an appointment.
Free competition can be taken a bit too far sometimes.
Edit.... surgeries can offer all sorts of services now; they want people to use them. It's how they can keep going as individual surgeries.(I just lurve spiders!)

.... not all parents are investment bankers ...
This isn't about anything more than "wanting to live in a bubble where everybody is like me".
It's gentrification.
Introduce something "other people" can't or won't afford - and you're left with "people just like you".
It's financial cleansing .... gentrification ....
Go with the hoody .... and next year there'll be something else that "separates the men from the boys" - a trip, an event .... something aspirational and gentrifying.
Perhaps we can "twin" with a team in France .... and all visit .... and play against them. Cultural activities..... only £650 PP required for this trip ... plus your spending money of course. Of course, delve a little deeper and you'll discover it's because whoever thought of it happens to have a 2nd home in that region....0 -

I'm surprised that the investment banker manager is not arranging sponsorship of the team's hoodies. Seriously. I don't think we ever had to buy more than socks when the kids played football as the kits were always sponsored.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
