I have a new solicitor. Let's hope this one neither lies to me nor gets shut down by the regulator!Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

The idea that the roof will be ripped off and suddenly everything's blowing everywhere, half a wall gone, having to get up, get dressed, grab stuff, get out, in the dark, in the rain, in the wind ..... etc etc.
Most people don't think it through to that extent, but since you mention it, those things are bloody scary! :eek:No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Thanks all of you.
Yes, this is still the crash. I settled the fatal claim a few years ago - all the maintenance he would have paid until they grew up, that kind of thing - but the children both have PI claims that *should* be paying for their therapy, but the defendants are reluctant to cough up. First firm of solicitors were making recommendations to try to limit the other side's costs while lying to me about their reasons, and second firm were doing much better until the regulator suddenly closed them down - I haven't been told why. I am meeting the new one on Wednesday. Her firm has been recommended to me by someone who knows about these things, and she seemed all right on the phone.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Has anyone come across kiwi berries?
(Actinidia arguta)
I came across them in the supermarket yesterday, and bought some to try.
They taste a bit like a cross between a kiwi fruit and a gooseberry, and are about the size of a gooseberry.
I think they are related to kiwi fruits, but can be eaten whole. They don't have a furry skin.
They are quite nice!(I just lurve spiders!)

They look interesting, but I'm allergic to kiwi fruit, so I'll pass, just in case0

And breathe
Hermes deliver a parcel, we got a card through the door, it is behind the garden gate - we don't have a garden gate.
So we found the parcel, it was a large box about 20kg and had been thrown over the 6'6 side fence at the back of the house by walking right down the neighbours drive. Of course it was impossible to see what was on the other side of the fence, which was the outside tap mounted on the side wall of our house...or should I say previously mounted because of course the box dropped from that height was plenty heavy enough to knock it off the wall bending the pipe.
Fortunately the pipe did not burst (at least visibly outside the wall but now do we leave it hanging or reattach it by bending the pipe back and risking it fracturing and of course the rawl plugs have pulled so it will never be firmly attached again.
Initially on not finding the parcel we had rung the company and as I was going back to work the driver turned up to tell us where it was. I explained what happened - his response was he was only short so how could he have known what was on the other side of the fence. He then tried to insist we sign for the parcel, I refused and he accused me of trying to commit fraud at his expense and refused to move his van that was blocking us from leaving our drive.
Long story short we rang the company and the dispatcher told him to leave and then I got an email saying 'Hermes has successfully delivered your parcel' :mad:I think....0 -

I once ordered something, can't remember what, and the delivery schedule was a couple of weeks, which was ok as I was going away for a week.
When I came back, well before the two weeks, there was a card. The parcel had been delivered early, and had been thrown over the side gate and had lain there, in the rain, for a few days.
Luckily it wasn't breakable, and wasn't hurt by the rain, but I wasn't pleased. The courier wouldn't have known it wasn't breakable.
(This was in the days before email and internet deliveries).(I just lurve spiders!)
