Travelling mostly overland over florida may be a good things as even though it hits more areas because it is no longer over the sea its power is not being replenished and there are no 'landfalls' bringing storm surges.
The storm surge is not caused by landfall but by the extreme low pressure in the storm system lifting the sea surface.
It is, of course, exacerbated by shallower water but the surge is still there when the storm is well out to sea.0 -
You cna get two drawer dishwashers where you can wash each drawer seperately - so mostly just use the top drawer, no bending and as it is small it is full after every meal so needs running....
I'd love one of those. They're very expensive though. We have a basic Indesit, which does the job perfectly well0 -

Rats, I had a suspicion that would be the case
Not all that surprising I guess - if they are effectively two small individual DWs in one unit, you're paying for two DWs and one case.0 -
Yet here is me sat in my social housing house and the world outside is boring. No fights, no cars on wheels, no public domestics...just very boringly quiet with perfectly kept gardens and with no-one to be seen after 9 at night.
Wouldn't have it any other way but for some reason this road still has a horrendous reputation, lived here 19 years and the only thing we have had in all that time is next door singing whilst laying down in the road drunk about 10 years ago.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I was more hinting at the point some make about social housing, about how 'rough' all the tenants are and they would never ever ever want to live next to a social housing area because they are lower class and violent and the lowest of the low when it comes to renters but just like with all things, there are good and bad social housing tenants and areas.
You're right though, it is down to the more settled community, I just wish some others could see it that way too.
Our most horrendous living experience was on an owner occupier estate, no renters, all owners (including us) in our not so little close. We had milk being stolen from our doorstep, drug raids on next door and a house a bit further down the road, anti social behaviour (a football hooligan who had a very good job and owned his house outright, across the way).We made it! Sadly they are silly expensive. We have a cheap indeshit and it broke after 20 months and never even when new got the dishes clean. I wonder what the dsr rules would have been about sending it back in the first 14 days when it didn't work properly, obviously the shipping is not cheap for dishwashers....I think....0 -
Our Indesit is several years old now. I use Finish Quantum tablets (bought when I see them on special offer) and they seem very good.
It did need a new solenoid (sp?) at one point, but DS is an electrician0 -

I live in supposedly a respectable and boring suburb of London. But, if I look on http://www.murdermap.co.uk/murder-map.asp and draw a circle of a couple of miles round my house, I can count around 20 murders! No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Ours needed a new heater ar 20 months, however from day 1 we have needed to handwash the dishwes first to have them come out clean.
Eon have written to me today, as a 'special offer' when my fix ends I can switch to a new one. Current annual cost £1530, new annual cost £2460....so a mere 61% increase, it would be 70% if I went onto their standard variable rate.
Even the market best deal is up more than 20%I could pay 10% more for a 2 year fix but it doesn't seem worth it assuming prices don't go up by more than 20% again in the next 12 months....

I'm not sure how to predict even that!No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
