Is there a fudge van? I so wish I could use photoshop.
My first bank account was Girobank. Long before I could ever earn any money to put into it. I had a grey plasticky book.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Do you mean a brand new thread?
Assuming that you do, you need to go to the threads list on the board you want and there should be a "New Thread" button above the list.
Hint - if you don't enter a subject when creating a new thread the system will give it a title of your username, which can look a tad weird
Oh. I marked that post as spam. You think it's genuine? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Looking at the facts........... very first post on MSE is on this thread.
I'm no good at probability statistics, but...........
However, until a product placement is made, it might be as well to err on the side of chance encounters.(I just lurve spiders!)

The benefits of mine outweigh the monthly charge. phone insurance/ travel insurance/ emergency cover/ airport lounge access.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Out of interest, though, (no pun intended), how will bringing back back bank charges make people manage their money better?
Apart, possibly, from making people gravitate to banks with the lowest charges or none, if any should exist?
What I'd like to see is banks offering a decent rate of interest for savings/holding accounts. They've always had far worse rates than other institutions.(I just lurve spiders!)

The onlt one of mine that does that (and the only one on which I pay a fee) is my Santander 123 - which I have for "some" interest and cashback on my bills.
I don't require any of the insurance, etc bundles.0 -

Higher charges for not managing their money better would be more effective, IMO.Apart, possibly, from making people gravitate to banks with the lowest charges or none, if any should exist?
Which is precisely what I would do.What I'd like to see is banks offering a decent rate of interest for savings/holding accounts. They've always had far worse rates than other institutions.
Indeed - it's a right PITA having to juggle money around to get decent interest on limited amounts.0 -

.
How would banks define not managing their money better, though?
If they get overdrawn, there are already high charges, especially if the overdraft is unauthorised.
Even if their account is always in credit, just, it doesn't mean they aren't spending all their money on non-essentials and running up debts to landlords, mortgage providers or utility companies.(I just lurve spiders!)
