I've stopped using sandwich bags for my boys packed lunches and now put their sandwiches in a small L&L container. Less bags used so cheaper and less rubbish!
Also with L&L if they accidently drop the box on the floor the lid will not come off!
I love l&l as well. The only problem I have is hunting for the right lid
.
Only downfall is they do take up a lot of space when empty.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -

Hello
Just a quick note to say my dad has a 'vacuum packer' from one of the shopping channels. Fun as a toy but totally rubbish, taking no more air out than you could do yourself by hand if v v careful (cost approx £30),
Personally I'd stick to 'tupperware' equivalents....

Hi Just flicking through and noticed your comment on Ikea, I THINK what Mrs M was saying was that lots and lots of things here in Germany are cheaper than the UK, our visitors often comment that we pay in Euros what they are paying in £'s. (someones making money somewhere!):rolleyes:0

If its any use, I have had two of the hand held vacum sealers plus a larger kitchen one from Tchibo and I could never get to grips with any of them.
They just seemed to leave gaps in places and the bags would split - it could just have been my incompetence though! Prefer plastic storage tubby things. My local shop does ten for a pound and they last ages - great for freezing and you can put them straight in the microwave.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

qvc shopping channel sells lock and lock multi sets in all sizes, also they sell ones with a little vacuum pump to get rid of the air inside, i have got the jml from makros £7.99 for i think a 7 piece set, it comes with a very large l&l ideal for all the biscuits. also they are great for storing cheese as it doesn't go all hard around the edges and keeps for a lot longer.0

I usually save margerine tubs for freezing etc,we get through a lot in various sizes here so I never need to buy any usually. When totally knackered they are recycled in the garden as plant tags
