Virgin Media Billing

I have been with virgin media for the last 12 months, my bill has been around £44 for broadband, TV and phone as i also received a £10 discount for 12 months (i should note i signed to an 18 month contract)
last month someone called from virgin media to offer another promotional offer for the next 6 months of the contract, basically i got the gull house tv package for 11p cheaper per month.
as my contract was coming to the end of the initial £10 discount i asked if this would affect the cost of my bill, i was advised no this new package i was taking for the duration of my contract will be 11p cheaper per month, the existing discount did not affect my bills going forward.
today i checked my bill and its now £62! i have contacted virgin and basically been told when i changed the package i was given the wrong information and that the existing £10 discount did make a difference so all they could do was raise a complaint.
basically i am wondering what to do, i don't know the in's and out's of contracts but because i have agreed to one thing and they are charging something else surely that has to be a mis-sold product?
any advice from anyone would be fantastic! thank you in advance to all who reply!!
