Redundancy Advice Please

Hi All
First post for a long time so please be gentle!
I work in the service industry and have just been made redundant after 25 years with the same company. As this is my first and hopefully last time I have no experience but don't think I have been treated correctly and would be grateful for any advice. A few weeks ago my department was informed that the company intended to outsource part of the business and there would likely be job changes/reductions etc as a result and started a collective consultation period of 45 days. I was identified early on as one of a few in the TUPE pot and received no further info to the contrary until early June.
As a real surprise to me I received a letter out of the blue with no warning telling me my role was now at risk; that I had been scored against "redundancy criteria" and that i needed to attend an interview with my manager which i did 2 days later. During the meeting she told me I was at risk, asked me if i had any questions and then terminated the interview saying she would be in touch. 2 days later i received a letter confirming my TUPE to the new organisation. The day after that i received a termination letter of statutory redundancy giving me 48 hours to return all equipment. I was really shell-shocked so did this and found my world upside down in the space of 5 working days. Having had the chance to reflect some other things don't feel right. The termination was made by letter with no warning; the termination happened within the consultation period; the termination was advised by the new company even though the transfer hadn't taken place.
A week later I received an email from my old manager asking me if I fancied some consulting work in the same company doing my old job for a short period.
Not sure where to turn but this doesn't stack up. I would be grateful for any help or advice.
Thanks for anyone who takes the time.

I can certainly see that this was a horrible shock, and some haste was taken by the employer that was, perhaps, unsavoury. And yes, something may not be right - but, assuming that more than three months haven't yet passed (if they have it's too late), there isn't enough information here to say that it is unfair. We'd need to know how the selection was done, how the two companies were operating, and how the decision for redundancies were taken etc. In itself, being offered some freelance work on a temporary basis isn't a smoking gun. It's more a faint whiff, and may be indicative of nothing.0

Thanks for the responses.
Selection was based on a set of criteria which included location, performance and disciplinary etc. I didn't know I was being assessed until I received the results as I was under the impression I was TUPE.
I scored full marks (positive) on all but location. The next communication was the redundancy notice with a statement that other solutions had been considered (but not discussed with me) and i was to be made redundant. So i have had no confirmation that the role was/is moving (hence the original TUPE) and/or the opportunity to move to a different role if they exist.
So in sum, I have been scored but not sighted to how i compare with others and\or how the selection criteria has been applied. Moreover I have not been told explicitly why I am redundant other than a statement which says they have been 'unable to identify how your redundancy could be avoided'.0 -

Yes but you could have asked for those things to be explained. They don't have to tell you how you scored compared to others unless you ask. And frankly the information is mostly useless anyway.
What was the score on location about?
The answer that you have been made redundant because there is no other alternative is the explanation. Whether that is true or not is the point, and you don't know that.
I think the problem here is that you have negative answers. You don't know things. That makes it very difficult to advise you. I honestly think that you might be best off looking at getting legal advice. That isn't always needed, but this does seem to need some untangling which is hard to do here.0
