I discovered part of the house wiring like this - twin core only, to wall lamps. Electrician pointed out that metal bodied lamps are not allowed on these circuits (which I've now had upgraded anyway).0

That isn't the case. As long as the wall lights are double insulated (class 2) then they can be made of metal and fitted on a circuit like that. It's been like that for quite some time as well.0

Not strictly true as the Wiring Regulations require a cpc to be terminated at every point in the wiring, even where it is serving a Class II accessory.0 -

Not least as I did an electrical safety awareness course & this sort of thing was a red light to get the heck out & page help. As an employee. In a home? Yell for the landlord at full Top C!0
