Issues with defaults incorrectly recorded

I've got an issue with 2 defaults on my credit file. I queried both with the respective companies and both promised to resolve them. I have the calls recorded.
I contacted Experian who queried both with the companies. One (telecoms) agreed there is an error due to technical faults at their end and they'll fix it, but still waiting over 8 weeks later. Another (card) said it's correct and they won't change it.
The issue with both is that the defaulted balances are fully satisfied, over a year ago, have zero balances, and accounts are closed. However they continue to record a fresh "8" status each month and remain actively in default rather than satisfied.
This is crippling my credit score. I'm newly self employed and doing well, but could do with an overdraft to aid with managing cashflow at times, but with the current report my bank won't help. They agree if these issues were fixed, they'd probably look to assist.
What tools do I have in law or industry regulations to encourage these two companies to rectify their erroneous recording of actively defaulting accounts, so I might get on with my life. The notice of correction I've lodged on my credit report doesn't stand for much now most companies simply go with computer scoring and don't manually underwrite any more.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and ideas...
