where did the other £1452 come from
They start adding on "charges" for visits / tracing people etc.
  • I have no idea! I just assumed it they can start charging crazy interest untill you find out and pay up
  • Yeah I'm guessing that's where it came from. Do you have any advice of how I can deal with it?
    Thanks x

No they can not start charging crazy interest . The amount they can charge is set out in the small claims court. There is no way £150 can turn into £2k plus

  • well that was the final amount I paid. So I have no idea how they got that figure. It's making me angry thinking that I wish I knew all these things before, such as them only being able to charge a set amount of intrest. I should have questioned it more before I paid.
  • also I said that I wrote down the original figure wrong (if you read the rest of my posts)
The total I paid was £1696.50.

I also was expecting to be paid my untaken holiday.

How could they have paid you if they didn't know where you were. Why didn't you chase this up when you left.

I'm sorry but I don't believe this can be set aside now.

Your payment of it will be viewed as an admission of the debt

You should however make sure it is being marked as a settled ccj, and this should have less of an impact than if it were unsettled.
  • I was very unwell at the time, I didn't want to chase holiday pay when I had worse things to worry about. At the time I was prepared to let that go.

However it became an issue and something I wanted to be paid when I realised how much money I supposedly owed them.
  • Thanks fatbelly.

How do I make sure it's marked as settled?

I paid because I was worried about it increasing more and they were threatning to enter my house. I did not agree with the debt. I felt I had no choice.
