Choosing a bath waste

Hi, we are soon fitting a new bath.
We have had huge problems with the current waste/plug which is a pop up one but was cheap.
I'm not sure what to go for, a small detail I know but one that can be a hassle if there are problems.
I've looked at this : http://www.screwfix.com/p/mcalpine-clicker-waste-bath-trap-chrome-effect-70mm/50504 but worried we may stand on the plug as our shower is over the bath. I like the simple look of it.
Our other option is something like this:
https://www.fountaindirect.co.uk/crosswater-standard-bath-waste-with-plug-and-chain.html
Any experience of these please or any advice?
Many thanks.

Click- clacks look great until they fail, spring goes or they jam, pop-ups and them twister things have their problems . .
I've gone back to straight-forward-standard wastes with a plug on a chain, not as trendy but much less hassle . . .

they're only a flipping plug holes and I just want one's that work :j

Well there isn't really anything that can go wrong with a plug and chain, and if the plug or chain break, you just buy a new one and fit it yourself.

Another vote for a plug and chain. I did my bath a couple of years ago and my observation was this. There are some cr-p quality plug and chains sold even in reputable trade places like Toolstation and Screwfix - unbranded Chinese dross. There also some good ones - McAlpine (made in UK) and a French one (WRAC?) and you will only pay a few pounds more to get these. A no brainer really.

Going off topic slightly, but also buy a good trap. McAlpine are good and have been around years. How good and how established? My McAlpine basin waste was fitted in 1988. The air admittance was worn out and the plastic had thinned. It has been removed many times for cleaning over the years yet all seals are original.

McAlpine manufacture the same product today and it was a straight swap over and I foresee another 30 years of problem free use.

You can buy cheaper, poorer quality, inferior, Chinese traps but if it is your home and you have any interest in quality and sustainability then forget these.

As other have said the simple plug and chain is the way to go,when the other fancy one stops working you will have to take the bath panel off and struggle to work under the bath to replace it,with the plug and chain it can be replaced in no time .

Thanks everyone, plug and chain it is, any recommendations on brands other than McAlpine as theirs is very basic looking?

It's a plug & chain I'm not sure how fancy you want it ?
You can get plastic/rubber plugs or brass plugs (which are chrome) just get which one you like
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

Toolstation stock Wirquin - I have touched and felt some of these plugs and chains and the quality appears good.
